臺灣棒球熱興起於五、六十年代，少棒、青少棒橫掃世界
棒壇。

新民國小也有棒球隊，遴選三年級高壯、反應敏捷的同學
進球隊練球，由蔡再生老師擔任教練，多次參加縣內棒球比賽

皆得冠軍，是臺南縣球技精湛、名聞遐邇的球隊 ! 李居明和沈
清文兩位國際出名的棒球國手，就是新民國小培養出來的。
